Corbels are a great way to add elegance and style to any home, apartment or building. They are found inside or outside, and have been around for hundreds of years. Essentially, a corbel is a piece of stone, or possibly timber, which juts out of a wall to carry incumbent weight. The name derives from a French word meaning crow, because of the corbel's beaklike shape.
